Great choices John because they are all amazing. For me it's between The Princess Bride (magnificently well done and hilarious) and The Neverending Story. If I had to choose one, it would be the latter just because TNES reminds me of the innocence of childhood and the concept of human transformation. The ethos of magic, the forces of light and darkness are forever timeless. The quest to understand oneself, others and the nature of life through suffering and how to cherish every moment regardless of obstacles are the big takeaways for me.

Two great choices for sure. Probably my top two also. My adult self would go with The Princess Bride, my child self would go with The Neverending Story ;)

^ Nailed it! Princess Bride is just too valueable, but I will scream like Atreyu losing Artax to part with Neverending Story.

💯💯💯 You're absolutely right, Tom, Princess Bride is way too valuable. But I also agree that TNeS is an absolute gem!

Fuck that's a hard one.

Legend because Tim Curry or Labyrinth because David Bowie.

Tim Curry for the win for me. Also loved him in IT, Home Alone 2, and The Three Musketeers, among many other films and appearances. Definitely a tough one! :)

Legend. I'd argue it was the most pure fantasy film of the group. The others were really kids movies or a derivative satire (a good one--I loved it!--but really more of a send up of the genre than an expression of it).

Well said. I can't believe there hasn't been any attempt to grow that universe as a film. It's ripe with opportunity.

The most magical film in the list is Legend. I am surprised it got green-lit then and I am surprised it has not be remade into a woke disaster yet.

I've always enjoyed Legend and always felt it was underappreciated. I think when the film was released it was difficult to tell who the film was made for. Was it a kids film or a film for adults. If it were remade I hope someone really does a great job with it and not ruin it with any of today's Hollywood sensibilities. Would be awesome to see a cameo from Cruise and Mia Sara
