I’ve seen some stupid trends come and go in my lifetime, but this one takes the cake! Literally the dumbest thing ever…
Dudes are going on flights and depriving themselves of any sensory materials as a personal challenge. Isn’t that why we have marathons and Everest excursions? Some of them claim they’re working towards a zen thing over the course of the flight— a self-imposed endurance challenge. I don’t buy it.
Why men and women would think this challenge is going to do anything for them I’m not really sure. I mean, intermittent fasting is already a thing. The only thing that makes sense is that this is a new level of attention seeking nonsense…
…but from adults.

The idea is to restrict yourself of any rest, refreshments, or any type of enjoyable activity while on an extended flight. This is so Buddhist Monk. It’s a time for self reflection. Not really. I have no clue where these idiotic trends come from, but As a content creator and writer (and business professional), I see this as completely wasting good time to work on a project.
Even catching a nap makes more sense!
I don’t work much on flights unless I have a deadline, but to go 4-15 hours without any food, water, or entertainment is nonsensical… not even a book?!

Flight hours are prime creativity times for me. I’ve got four kids so my time is extremely valuable when it’s all to myself. When I fly I write my articles, read a few chapters, and sometimes I just like to catch up on some entertainment that I would likely write about. I recently watched Dune II on my flight back from Chicago!

So what does ‘RAW DOGGING’ really mean?
It appears someone (without a doubt a Gen Alpha) added a few other applications to the term, which was originally, AND FOR THE LONGEST TIME, a slang term for having unprotected sex.
Looks like the “update” to the term was made in 2021 — Maybe we’re just not creative enough as a society now to call this trend something else—
Let me tell you what happened in 2021, Betty White died at the age of 99 (We love you Betty!) and a movement to rewrite history books was emerging from the dark corners of the re-education camps we call our universities.
Ok, ok… so to each his own I suppose…, but you can’t argue that this adult driven travel trend stems from the lowest rungs of human cognition. BUT I’m sincerely baffled by humanity sometimes.
Tip: Don’t say raw dog when it’s your second day at your new job 🙄
