Hi, I’m John, and the cool kids know me as That 80s Dude… welcome to the party!
I’m a ‘76 baby that grew up in Detroit, MI in the 1980s. In 1989 we moved to San Diego, California, and the rest is history. I’m married to the love of my life (she’s a Millennial, but I still love her lots 😜) and I have four amazing sons. Life is crazy busy, but I still make time for watching my favorite 80s and 90s flicks, listening to sweet jams, and hunting for my favorite nostalgic things like this:
On social media I’m known as That 80s Dude, and I wrote a book inspired by by generation - Nostalgia Nation: The Definitive Chronicle of Growing Up Gen X.

I post an article on the main site feed weekly-ish. However, I send out my newsletter a couple of times a week right to your inbox.
I love physical media of all kinds, and a couple of my favorite hobbies include retro gaming and tuning up my audio room so I can achieve audio zen with my vintage and modern audio gear. I also publish an e-zine called Nostalgia Nation* quarterly (It started monthly, but it takes a ton of work, so now it’s quarterly). I have a YouTube channel that I post videos to as well.
